Two Years

Self Help Skills

Helps put things away.
Uses a spoon (spills a little).
Indicates toilet needs.
Removes shoes, socks, pants jumper.

Social Development
Recognises self in mirror or picture.
Refers to self by name.
Plays by self.

Motor Development
Gross Motor

Walks backwards.  Pulls and pushes toys.  Picks up toys from floor without falling.  Moves to music.

Fine Motor

Builds tower of three small blocks.  Scribbles.  Throws a small ball.
Turns 2 - 3 pages at a time.

Cognitive Development
Is able to match two similar objects.
Looks at book with adult naming or pointing to familiar objects on request.

Language Development

Expression
Uses names eg. "No, gone, more" Talks to self and toys while playing
Uses 2 - 3 word sentences, eg. "Mum car, Dad go, More milk"
Uses one or more pronouns eg. "me, my, mine, you"

Comprehension
Identifies simple body parts eg. "nose", "eyes", "tummy.
Listens to stories with pictures.
Understands simple questions and sentences, eg. "Where's your shoe?"
Understands  words about position eg. "in", "on"
